Ormiston Hospital, which is a joint venture hospital with Southern Cross Healthcare, is a leading private surgical healthcare provider for the East and South Auckland Region. Originally opened in 2009, the hospital covers a wide range of surgical and endoscopy procedures.
Having secured the adjacent property Vital Healthcare Property managed by Northwest Healthcare Properties, approached Klein to design an expansion from the existing hospital to successfully support the growing need for additional space for elective Endoscopy procedures in the area. This required extensive site masterplanning along with innovative design around internal circulation routes and physical connection to the existing hospital.
The expansion building includes:
- 3 Procedure Rooms
- Scope clean and dirty rooms
- Recovery stages I & II
- 2 Consult Rooms
- 5 Pre-Op rooms and Discharge lounge
- 15 Inpatient Ward bedrooms with private ensuite (single occupancy)
- Administration offices & reception
- Staff amenities & support facilities
- Ward Pantry
- Shell space for additional Theatre support
- Shell space for 9 Inpatient Ward bedrooms with private ensuites (mix of shared and singe occupancy).
- Shell space for expansion of CSSD
- Internal and external building services plant and associated outbuildings.
- Patient & Services lifts
- 3 separate tenancy spaces on ground floor (163m2, 317m2 & 400m2)
The building structure consists of 4 storeys with a K-Brace steel frame. The exterior consists of an innovative 3D Hook and Pin cladding system combined with timber-look aluminium panels creating a unique point of difference for the new modern facility while trying in harmoniously with the existing building.
The interior spaces provide modern amenities with surrounding natural colours & timber accents. Private bedrooms have generous access to natural light with homely finishings and furnishings.
